Went to this dentist for the first time Dec 2015 with my son . They were kind and an awesome crew to work with. .. I had to go back recently for another dental procedure. This WILL be my new dentist !

I was a patient for several years and felt at that time that I had good care, after retirement I became a patient at UNC Dental School. My issue concerns a root canal procedure done by Dr. Atkins , he did the root canal on two roots, claiming he could not find the third root in a molar. Later I had to have a bridge over that existing tooth. Years later I have had a root canal redone in that same tooth. Dr. Atkins did not fill the complete roots in both roots of the tooth resulting in infection and bone loss. After 4 hours of a new root canal from Endodontic professionals at the Dental School the roots were cleaned out , antibiotic administered and told the bone may grow back in a year. The infection was a result of an incomplete root canal leaving space at the end of the root to be a haven for bacteria. Fortunately, the bridge was not compromised, but if it had I would be paying several thousands of dollars more. Please, if you are going to have a root canal procedure go to a specialist, it may cost more, but you won't have to experience what I have for something that could have been alleviated by adequate dentistry. Lastly, a third root was discovered, surprise!
