Asheville City Council To Discuss Recent Water Crisis Tonight (Asheville, NC) -- The Asheville water crisis will be discussed at today's city council meeting. Thousands of residents were left without water for more than a week after temps plunged below zero just before Christmas. Water settling at the basins of the Mills River intake froze, causing the facility to go offline, resulting in several water line breaks. Most residents were restored by this past weekend, but many agree that measures need to be taken to prevent this from happening again.
