The murder of an Apex man in August 2022 is still under investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Atlantic Beach police. On January 12, Gov. Roy Cooper made known that he was adding a further $25,000 reward for information that will result in the capture and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of Randall Miller. It increases the $30,000 prize offered by the Atlantic Beach police to a total of $55,000. Miller, then 65, Residents of Miller's block in Apex, where he lived, honour him with flags four months after his murder.
