The fall election season got underway Friday with the opening of the candidate filing period. Those wishing to be included on municipal ballots in the fall can file their paperwork at their local county board of elections office through July 21 at noon. Most North Carolina counties will have primary elections on Oct. 10, 2023, and a general election on Nov. 7, 2023. There are a couple of big exceptions: Raleigh's municipal elections are not until next year, 2024. Cary has their general election on Oct.
