A large nonprofit organization has purchased the campus of a shuttered Christian college in Durham that closed in the wake of a fraud scandal. Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina acquired the property of Apex School of Theology for $4.27 million on March 15, according to Durham County deed records. The school shut down in 2020 after former employees were charged with fraud linked to $12 million in federal student aid. Any new plans for the 6.182-acre property at 1701 TW Alexander Drive are unclear as Goodwill did not respond to inquiries.
